Chapter 7

After Mom gives me a lecture about being too dangerous, we arrive back at my house and I run straight to the garden shed.

Where is that sword?

I dig through some old boxes and junk before I finally find it!

“Here it is. It’s been just sitting here with a box of old toys,” I say to myself as I point to the sword.

Tekato appears again out of nowhere and checks out the sword.

“Whoa, man, where did you come from?” I ask in surprise.

“The shadows…” he says in a mysterious voice.

“The shadows?”

“Oh yeah – I just hitched a ride on the back of your car and waited in the shadows until you arrived.”

“Oh.”

“Hheeee,” stresses Tekato as he tries to pick up the sword. “Is this a cruel joke? I can’t lift it. It is stuck to the floor.”

“Haha, it’s only a toy sword, you weakling! I used to play with it all day long when I was three,” I say.

I step forward and pick it up with ease. Tekato looks stunned and turns to me.

“Blake,” he says.

“Yo, Ninja Bro.”

“I think you may be the Chosen One…”
